Courtney's Story

Lost 46 lbs

Won $354

"I'm competitive so I love being in competition with myself to meet that goal!"

Over the last 2 years I've been on a journey to lose weight and become the healthiest version of me that I can be. During that time I've lost over 130 lbs, which was gained during my 2 pregnancies by eat fast food daily (or multiple times a day) and quickly found myself over 300 lbs. It was in December of 2011 that I finally took the first step to lose the weight for good. December 28th was the day a friend ask me to join a popular weight loss program that has you tracking points. That same day I started my blog, treadmillrunway.com. I quickly figured out the weight loss program wasn't for me and I ventured out on my own.

I joined my first DietBet while I was also in another weight loss competition at my gym. Online support communities have played a big role in my success and the DietBet community is no different. Money is a big motivator for me. DietBet is a one time payment that you can earn back and has constant support. What's not to love! I've tried programs like WeightWatchers which as I began to have a better understanding of food and nutrition realized it wasn't for me anymore. It was a good place to start but I quickly out grew the program.

DietBet works for me because it keeps me from getting to comfortable and the games provide a great sense of motivation and community. I'm competitive so I love being in competition with myself to meet that goal. Having money on the line, even just a small amount is a great motivator for me. The other reason it works for me is it's SIMPLE. 28 days, 4% to lose, nothing fancy. I like interacting with the other players, trading tips and recipes, sharing struggles and motivations. Despite it being about winning money from people who don't meet their goals the community is very open and supportive of others. If you share your struggles someone will always be there to support you. If you are thinking about trying DietBet, do it. No, seriously, what have you got to lose besides some weight! If you're serious and committed you don't need to worry about losing your money, chances are you'll make a few bucks!

How much do you want to lose?
