"Inch by inch I have been regaining myself, and the self-confidence that follows in knowing I am taking care of me. I am now a much healthier me in many ways."
I am a mother of four boys with ages ranging between 23-13. Growing up, I
competed in many sports. Was talented and dedicated enough that I competed all
four years at the state level in track and won state high jump my sr. year. I
modeled my 20’s into my early 30’s.
In my early 30's I entered into a relationship and eventually married an individual that brought much turmoil into my life, which eventually ended in divorce. Through this time, following, my last pregnancy, I was also diagnosed with Graves Disease/thyroid issues and went through an Iodine Radiation Process that "killed" my thyroid. This was the beginning of my fight against food and finding my way through many, many changes in regard to nutrition. The turmoil of this bad relationship added to the depression I felt with my new struggles with my weight and my struggles with my self-confidence. I have yo-yo'd through my late 30's up until the beginning of this year. New Year's eve was a defining turning point for me. I was weighing 165 (more than I ever weighed through pregnancy). I could not fit into any dress.
Mentally, I was ready to lose the weight. I started my first weighing in at 165. My competitive nature kicked back in towards reaching and maintaining goals. I chose to prevail as I had as an athlete in my younger years
Summer is a challenge as I love to boat with my husband, family, friends and socialize however, I am looking forward to signing back up with DietBetter in September to reach my goal of 120 and who knows, maybe start competing again or model again. Thanks for the motivation. Inch by inch I have been regaining myself, and the self-confidence that follows in knowing I am taking care of me. I am now a much healthier me in many ways.
